This morning we visited with Ulland Brothers in Albert Lea. Ulland Brothers was started by two brothers who had a wood cutting business in the Austin area. The company is a 101 years old employee owned company. As an employee owned company, all salaried employees own a portion of the company. They were located in Austin until 1992 and made the move to Albert Lea in order to be closer to their aggregates. They have a family driven culture and there are many family members who have worked for the company over generations. They feel this is what helps to keep the history of the company alive. The majority of work they do is government contract work in addition to some private companies. They shared that the projects can take months at a time and they are always balancing multiple jobs at a time throughout the company. Students heard from many team members about their positions and the wide variety of roles that it takes to keep their organization moving. There are many opportunities within this company and we learned so much! Thank you to Ulland Brothers for investing and for allowing us to visit today!
